| What is CAVEX?
The CAVEX shape is such an obvious design for cyclone inlet geometry. The CAVEX curved spiral inlet is the natural flowpath into the cyclone. Examination of worn conventional cyclones clearly shows the formation of this natural flowpath. . With CAVEX the natural flowpath exists when the cyclone is new , not when it's nearly worn out! CAVEX feed chamber life is typically 3 times that of conventional cyclones , proof the CAVEX design is the future in classification.
What the critics are saying about CAVEX
Campbell Mine - Canada A CAVEX® was tested against old style cyclones. The results showed that the CAVEX® cyclone is a more efficient classifier and has greater throughput capacity. CAVEX® operates at lower pressures while achieving the same overflow sizing. All cyclones were changed to CAVEX® at Campbell. "same sizing at lower pressure"
Osborne Mine - Australia The efficient classification of CAVEX® cyclones produced a lower P80 and a lower circulating load. This allowed Osborne to increase tonnage at the original P80. "get the same grind at higher tonnage"
Bronzewing - WA A CAVEX® was placed in a cluster of 14 old style cyclones at the Bronzewing Gold Mine in Western Australia. Old style feed chamber liners, 25mm thick, averaged 1200 hours when worn through. The CAVEX® rubber feed chamber liners, 25mm thick, average 3750 hours. Another 300% increase. All cyclones are now CAVEX®. "300% wear life increase"
The graph below shows the cyclone efficiency curves prepared by operations staff. The inclusion of the CAVEX® cyclones, along with other plant modifications, increased gold recovery at Bronzewing.
Bronzewing cyclone efficiency curves for 60, 97, 104 & 129 kPa "improve leach kinetics"
Falconbridge - Collahuasi Mine - Chile The CAVEX 650CVX cyclone was trialed against the existing conventional 26" cyclones in the plant. The CAVEX 650CVX produced a slightly finer product but with significant increase in flotation recovery. Collahuasi have since replaced all conventional cyclones with CAVEX and have recently purchased four clusters of 12 x CAVEX 650CVX for an upgrade. "increase metal recovery"
BHP - OK Tedi - Papua New Guinea Trial results of CAVEX vs 26" conventional cyclones are as follows: (abstract from "Evaluation of CAVEX Hydrocyclone in the OkTedi Grinding circuit" presented by BHP in October 2000 ) "The CAVEX cyclones are operating with lower feed pressure than the Krebs cyclones: "Re-circulating loads have significantly reduced with CAVEX cyclones" "Cyclone availability with the CAVEX cyclones is high due to significant increase in livner life""increased capacity"
